To hike from Mexico to Canada and back, a man needs strength and speed and luck. He needs something else, too. If only he knew what it was.
I’ve saved this article for years and came across it this week while going through an old office box. It’s one of my all-time favorite sports adventure articles, published in 2005 by Backpacker Magazine and cleverly written by Steve Friedman. In 2004 Scott Williamson was the first person to yoyo the 2,560 mile Pacific Crest Trail—hike from Mexico to Canada and back to Mexico in one season! Rumor has it, he’s hitting the trail again this month to take back the overall PCT speed record. Thanks for the inspiration Scott!
